Local Man Arrested With Considerable Amount Of Meth

A local man was arrested during a routine traffic stop Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of a considerable amount of  the drug methamphetamine.

A press release issued through the Saint Joseph Police Department on Friday shows that the incident occurred during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 43, in the area of Cowpen Road.

Officials report that a Saint Joseph officer conducted the traffic stop for a violation of the vehicle light law. They indicate that driver Rusty Scott Thrasher, 26, of Lawrenceburg was unable to produce a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance. The officer quickly determined that Thrasher’s driver’s license had been suspended through the State of Tennessee.

Thrasher was placed under arrest at that point. When he was searched officers report finding that he had on his person a clear plastic bag that contained five white tablets identified as Hydrocodone.

Officers conducted a search of Thrasher’s vehicle and report finding 13.6 grams of meth, digital scales, several plastic bags used to package meth for resale, and a pipe used to consume methamphetamine.

As a result of the discovery Thrasher’s truck was seized. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges that include possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of resale, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thrasher was incarcerated in lieu of a $24,000 bond.
